Technology-first content approach at NEXT

Virtual reality and augmented reality are not technologies of the future. They are technologies of the now, and as the recent Pokemon Go craze has proven, they can be much easier to adopt and adapt to than most of us would have guessed.

The implication of virtual reality at the retail level will form the basis of the kickoff keynote at the upcoming NEXT Conference, Sept 14-15. Beck Besecker, founder and CEO of Marxent Labs, will lead the event Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 14, with a session about virtual and augmented reality in the retail space.

On Thursday morning, Sept. 15, retail expert Ryan Craver will host a session on Retail Experiences, incorporating new technologies on the retail floor, marrying the online and offline experience and creating retail environments that are fun and compelling to shop.[/four_fifth_last]Other session highlights include:

  • Technology – Content, Commerce and Curation – with panelists from Amber Engine, MicroD, The Design Network and more.
  • Industry Innovators, focusing on entrepreneurialism in the era of Kickstarter and Shark Tank – with panelists such as Joybird, Apt 2b and Roomhints.

Eugene Alletto, CEO of BedGear, will discuss how he built his own concept of “performance sleep” into a major bedding and mattress supplier.

And Apu Gupta, CEO and co-founder of visual marketing specialist Curalate, will close the conference with a presentation on finding your own path, idea generation and creating a new future for retail.

The conference will also include an interactive team exercise, presented in a Shark Tank-inspired competition format.
